Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach said that “All a child needs is one adult to believe in him”. Who is that adult and what process must he undergo with the child in order to give him what he needs and wants?
Jonathan Doron presents us with his personal, brave and revealing journey, revealing touching and unsettling moments from his childhood of living on Israel Air Force bases as son of a pilot, through his youth at a boarding school and until he became an educator, high school principal and educational and family consultant.
The images and events of his childhood, presented in small and painful packages, inspire us to come to come to his aid and immediately give him what every child needs. But as we read through the book, we discover the true picture: that boy grew up and grew stronger and now, it is he who is doing all that he can to give children what they really need. Jonathan is not an educator who teaches his students how to align with the norms and be like everyone else. He is an educator who studies every child and helps him be the person that is right for him, within his world and within the system.
This is not a book about an educator providing tips on getting children to adjust within the system. It rather discusses what can be done within the system in order to provide each individual what he really needs.
Jonathan Doron, 39, resides in Tel Aviv, married to Shiran and father to Michelle and Emily. He is a parental instructor and family consultant and he runs unique educational frameworks for children and youth with behavioral and adjustment problems. In addition, he lectures around the world and serves as an educational faculty advisor at schools and boarding schools.
Parents and educators who have read the book that became a bestseller in Israel say:
